Our Trips

All young people who attend our therapeutic clubs are welcome on our trips all over the UK. Here are just some examples of trips our members have enjoyed over the years.

BBC Birmingham, The Mailbox

One evening we enjoyed a very exciting trip to the BBC Birmingham studio.

We explored behind the scenes of TV and radio production, trying out green screens and recording segments. We saw the main newsroom for Midlands Today and the sound-proof studio used to record The Archers.

The guides were so enthusiastic and kept everyone entertained while providing a deeper understanding of the BBC’s work.

London Transport Museum

Our trip to London on the train, specifically to see the Transport Museum, was a great opportunity for us to explore the history and evolution of London's iconic transport systems.

The museum’s interactive exhibits provided an engaging experience, highlighting everything from historic horse-drawn buses to the latest transport innovations.

Afterwards we treated ourselves to desserts after a long exhausting day, and prepared ourselves for the train journey back to Solihull.

Space Centre, Leicester

Our Space Centre trip was an awesome experience (quoting two boys who described it as such!) A truly fascinating dive into the history and complexity of space exploration and the scale of the Universe.

The planetarium film and the opportunity to jump in zero gravity (!!!) were incredible experiences. Two of our members were tasked with searching for Mannequins, as one of the other members on the trip can become upset if they see them.

The staff at the Space Centre were incredibly understanding and allowed our group a separate, quieter room to eat in, making it easier for our separate groups to reunify for lunch.

Cadbury World, Bournville

Our trip to Cadbury World was a fantastic experience for 40 children and 12 adults!

Highlights included the 4D cinema, chocolate-making demos and writing our names in chocolate, and the historical tour gave us a glimpse into the origins of Cadbury.

The outdoor play area was great fun, and best of all our priority access passes gave us a much more neurodivergent-friendly experience - no queueing whatsoever.

Conkers, Swadlincote

Our trip to the adventure and discovery center Conkers was a great day out. The rain cleared just as we arrived and we enjoyed exciting obstacle courses, a scenic nature trail and plenty of walking.

The playground equipment added more fun to the day and we ended with cake and drinks at the café - a perfect and well-earned reward after the walking.

SnowDome, Tamworth

We had an unforgettable day at the SnowDome in Tamworth, where we took on the thrill of toboggan rides.

Sledging indoors in the middle of summer brought out competition in everyone. Afterwards we were all thoroughly exhausted, which made the steaming cups of hot chocolate in the cozy café feel even more rewarding.

Toilet Museum, Leicester

Our trip to the Abbey Pumping Station Museum (AKA Toilet Museum) was an educational and rather amusing experience.

The interactive Flushed with Pride exhibit gave us a fascinating look at the history of toilets and plumbing, and the narrow-gauge railway ride on a restored steam locomotive was a suitable nerd-out for many.

The museum gave us all a deeper appreciation for our community's industrial past, and we left with lasting memories of a great, amusing day together.
